The Community Behind Every Child

The goal of Project L.I.F.T.’s Community Engagement efforts is to eliminate the barriers between schools, families and the community to foster a sense of shared ownership and power in co-creating ways to move the community’s school forward. By connecting school leaders, parent leaders and community leaders, we can build power around a shared goal, and develop trusting and productive relationships to maximize student achievement.

All Project L.I.F.T. schools have a Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) or some type of on-campus parent organization focused on being great partners to the school and advocating for every child with one voice. Events and initiatives are being planned and launched collaboratively among school staff, parents and community leaders to enhance the culture of academic socialization for the benefit of our L.I.F.T. students.

Our team helps families with extraordinarily challenging circumstances gain access to wraparound services and support. We also help families plans for stabilization for the sake of our most vulnerable children. Above all, we create opportunities to connect with our parents to increase their capacity to be great partners to the school.

Who can get involved?

Among Project L.I.F.T.’s community partners, we have families and community leaders (ministers, after-school program coordinators, public resource providers and more) ready help their nearby school by fulfilling school needs and connecting us with the happenings of their surrounding community. See our Community Partners with whom we have longstanding relationships. Our partners help Project L.I.F.T. students with summer learning, intercession camps, technology classes, literacy initiatives, art projects and more.

Join us and volunteer

We need tutors in reading, math and science, in addition to lunch buddies and mentors.

    • All volunteers must go through an application process through CMS and a background check.
    • Once you pass this process, select the Project L.I.F.T. school you wish to help.
    • Your name will then go straight to the school coordinator and they will reach out to you to get you connected.

Join a PTSA

Our PTSAs are geared toward advocacy and providing partnership to the administrative staff of the school. Our PTSAs are open to parents, students, school staff and surrounding community members. Here you will find the contact information for each of our PTSA leaders. We encourage you to reach out to them about joining the chapter.
